Carl Friedlander
I was born in Chicago, Illinois, and moved to North Carolina as a teenager where I met and married my wife. We have lived in Israel, Michigan, Virginia and finally, Thousand Oaks, California. I moved to Thousand Oaks to join with other computer scientists to build and expand a small software company named ISX that has since been purchased by Lockheed. In 1992, I was diagnosed with brain cancer. My cancer was treated with radiation and eventually surgery. As a result, I have moved from expressing myself verbally to expressing myself artistically. In 2000, I began weaving and discovered a new world. Over the last several years, I have become a much more effective fiber designer, weaver and artist.
